  • What is the difference between Part 141 flight training and Part 61 flight training

Part 141 training is done through an FAA approved syllabus. Not only is it a more structured program but legally, students who train under Part 141 rules have a lower minimum flight hour requirement needed for certification. Part 61 training is flight training that any certified flight instructor is allowed to perform. In addition, Part 61 has higher minimum flight hour requirement needed for certification.

How often you fly depends on your availability! However, we recommend students fly 2-3 times per week.

  • How long can I expect to be here for each lesson?

On average, for a flight you can expect to spend three hours at the school. Thirty minutes for briefing, two hours of flying, and a thirty minute  debrief. For ground, you can expect to spend about two hours to four hours for ground training sessions.

  • How do I get started?

For any student looking to enroll in any training toward a license, rating, add-on, or endorsement, the first step is an enrollment meeting. During the enrollment meeting, the student will sit down with a member of our administrative staff.  In this time, the student will complete neccesary paperwork, be issued training materials, and be familarized with our operations and procedures.

  • How does scheduling work?

Each month we issue 'Student Availability Sheets" where students indicate the times they are able to fly and the amount of times they wish to fly per week. Based off that, we compare it to plane and instructor availability and schedule accordingly.

  • Will I stay with one instructor the whole time?

We do our best to keep you with one instructor during the duration of your training! However, sometimes there are scheduling restraints that can prevent us from doing so.

  • What type of plane will I be flying?

We train our students in the Cessna 172 Skyhawk. Our skyhawks have both the traditional steam guage/analog cockpit as well as the G1000 'glass' style cockpit.

  • How long does the course take?

That depends! The time the course takes for completion varies based on how often you fly and how well you grasp the concepts. The average time for completion of the private pilot course for our students is six months.

  • How does payment work?

We do installments in increments of $2,500 for our Part 141 students. This amount goes onto a prepay balance that is charged for the amount of each training session. Once the account reach the minimum level, we ask that the student brings in their next installment. Our Part 61 students and renters have the option to 'pay as they go'. However, the aircraft is billing at a less expensive rate for those who chose the pay with our installment plan.
